About

The Wombats were born in 2003 at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts thanks to the meet of di Matthew Murphy (voice, guitar and keyboards), Dan Haggis (drums) and Tord Øverland-Knudsen (bass).

The Wombats achieved fame with the song Backfire at The Disco, which entered the Top 50 of the singles in UK, followed by the debut album The Wombats Proudly Present: A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation released in 2007.

In 2011 the band put out the album The Wombats Proudly Proudly Presents: This Modern Glitch produced by Eric Valentine (Queens Of The Stone Age) which includes the songs Anti-D, Jump Into The Fog and the hit Techno Fan.

The band from Liverpool also released the albums Glitterbug of 2013, certified silver thanks to song like Greek Tragedy (Oliver Nelson’s remix of the song was certified gold in the USA) and Pink Lemonade, and Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life of 2017.

In 2022 The Wombats will be back with new album Fix Yourself, Not The World. The singles taken from the album are Method To The Madness which entered the UK Top 3 and If You Ever Leave, I’m Coming With You presented at Reading Festival.
