About
Black Country, New Road are back in Italy for a new live event.
From their acclaimed documentary Live at Bush Hall, to 4 appearances at Primavera Sound, through their debut in Glastonbury to Fuji Rock in Japan, Black Country, New Road have become legendary for their live.
The band announces their new album, Forever Howlong, which will be released on 4 April 2025 via Ninja Tune.
Forever Howlong is the first release of a studio album since 2022 with Ants From Up There, ranked at third place in UK, that gave the band their second UK Top 5 album in 12 months along with their debut in the shortlist for the Mercury Prize For the first time. Followed by Live at Bush Hall of 2023, an album that The Guardian called a "magical rebirth" in a triumphant 5-star review. Now, on the third studio album, the band is again building from scratch into another miraculous musical transformation.
Anticipated from the first single and opening track Besties that sees the lead vocals of Georgie Ellery, the new The long-awaited album was produced by James Ford (Fontaines D.C., Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode, Blur) and is a bold and ambitious work that sees Black Country, New Road reinvent themselves in a new form where vocal tasks, and most of the songwriting, are divided between Tyler Hyde, Georgia Ellery and May Kershaw. "Having three girls singing has created a real guideline for the album," Ellery says. "It’s definitely very different from Ants From Up There, because of the female perspective, and the The music we made completes this perspective".
The band’s ability to respond to changing circumstances is not only due to their close friendship, but also to their talent, adaptability and long-standing relationship as musicians. With a mix of Classical and self-taught training, our multi-instrumentalists have taken hold as a band playing regularly at The Windmill in Brixton together with friends and colleagues like Squid and black midi, and soon you are found to be labeled as "the best band in the world" by The Quietus.
Forever Howlong is an ambitious and meticulously detailed album that includes everything from folk to prog through baroque pop and alt-rock touches, but maintaining that sound unmistakably unique that only this combination of musicians can create. In fact, even Extremely diverse and expansive, the album also seems deeply cohesive and concentrated.
An album that proves once again that no record of their will ever sound the same, and at the same time it consolidates the fact that at the moment there is no one who comes even remotely close to making music that sounds like BC,NR.
