About
Steve Hackett, the legendary guitarist of Genesis, joined the band in 1971 and made his debut in Nursery Cryme. The album was more successful in Europe than in Britain. After many tours, supported by public feedback, the Genesis were encouraged to experiment with longer and longer compositions and developed their ability to introduce strong stories. This, in turn, gave Peter Gabriel a greater opportunity to indulge the theatrics, thus increasing the band’s profile.
Steve Hackett in the Seventies left his mark in the best albums of Genesis as Nursery Crime, Foxtrot, Selling England By The Pound, A Trick of the Tail, The Lamb Lies Down Broadway. But Hackett is not just the shady guitarist of Genesis. His solo career with over 30 publications including instrumental music, soundtracks, more pop records up to the project GTR, along with Steve Howe of Yes, have kept the memory alive year after year increasing his fame as a tireless artist and profound innovator: he is in fact the inventor of techniques such as tapping and sweep-picking that influenced several generations of guitarists such as Eddie Van Halen and Brian May of Queen to name a few.
