About
Katatonia is a Swedish music group founded in Stockholm in 1991 by singer Jonas Renkse and guitarist Anders Nyström.
With the album Dance of December Souls they helped develop, along with Paradise Lost and Anathema, the death doom metal genre. However, in a path of evolution that began with Discouraged Ones, the band abandoned the death component to embrace gothic metal, later moving toward progressive metal and electronics.
