About
Aqua is a Danish band composed of Lene Nystrơm, René Dif and Sơren Rasted. Claus Norreen, however, left the band in 2016.
The band was formed in 1989 under the name Joyspeed, with which they released the single Itsy Bitsy Spider. In 1996 they took the name Aqua, with which they became internationally known a year later thanks to the world hit Barbie Girl, included in their debut album, Aquarium. Since that time they have been a huge success with the next album, Aquarius and with the singles extracted from both the debut and the next; among their best known songs are in fact My Oh My, Doctor Jones, Lollipop (Candyman) , Cartoon Heroes and Around The World.
For a time the group broke up to allow members to start their solo careers.
The Aqua reunited in 2007, releasing two years after the collection Greatest Hits, for which they recorded some new tracks.
In 2011 they returned to the scene with the release of the single How R U Doin? , followed by the band’s third unreleased album, Megalomania.
