Creati dal frontman Finn Andrews a soli sedici anni e amati da registi come Tim Burton, Paolo Sorrentino e David Lynch che li hanno spesso inseriti nelle colonne sonore dei propri film, The Veils si preparano a tornare in tour con il nuovo album Asphodels, il settimo in studio.
Il nuovo album prende il nome dell'asfodelo, il fiore che nell'Antica Grecia rappresentava il regno degli Inferi. Per quanto riguarda i testi dei brani che lo compongono Andrews ha preso ispirazione più dai grandi poeti che dal cantautorato rock: si tratta di un disco che porta in sé tranquillità e moderazione a lungo desiderate e sceglie attentamente i momenti in cui far saltare il tetto e gridare verso il cielo.
La collaborazione tra Andrews e l'arrangiatrice di archi Victoria Kelly costituisce un aspetto centrale di questo lavoro, e come già successo con precedente …And Out of the Void Came Love, Kelly svolge un ruolo fondamentale nel portare queste canzoni alla luce.
Negli ultimi vent'anni The Veils si sono guadagnati una solida reputazione come una delle band da non perdere dal vivo. Il suo fondatore e frontman Finn Andrews è stato definito da Drowned in Sound uno dei migliori cantautori della sua generazione
