About
Agnes Caroline Thaarup Obel, is a Danish singer-songwriter, composer and pianist, who comes from Copenhagen.
Agnes Obel released her first album Philharmonics in October 2010, which immediately achieved great success and became five times platinum. In addition, the song Riverside wins the Robert Award for Best Original Song for the film Submarino by Thomas Vinterberg. In Italy, the song Riverside was chosen as the soundtrack for the television series Io ti cercherò in 2020.
The album obtained a great success in most of Europe and Agnes then began a tour in which she played with I Am Kloot and Jonsi.
In February 2011 she released a deluxe version of Philharmonics containing five additional tracks and in November Agnes won five awards at the Danish Music Awards.
The second studio album is Aventine, released in 2013 and whose title is a reference to the Aventine, one of the hills of Rome.
In 2016, three years after her last work, Agnes Obel released her third album Citizen of Glass, in which she experimented with new sounds. The album was positively received by critics and was presented with a tour throughout Europe.
Agnes Obel's latest album is Myopia, released in 2020. An intimist work that works by subtraction, but full of dark emotions and anguish.
